Comments:
Donny won’t step on another athletic field anymore, his home away from home. A
place where he seemed to be most comfortable. He won’t teach children what he
has learned in his 42 years of living, his many years of playing and being
around athletes. I think he would be surprised if he saw so many people are
mourning him. Don was, after all, a quiet man, a teacher of sports to children,
a volunteer, and a gentleman. It wouldn’t occur to him that he was so loved,
that he would be missed so much. Yet the very fact that so many have come
together to celebrate his life today says much more about him, and his kindness,
than mere words. Don, you see, never advertised the fact that he helped so many
people in so many different ways. He never talked about his numerous acts of
kindness. Yet I believe that almost everyone has been at the receiving end of
that kindness in some way. Don was a great teacher, his way was firm but gentle,
a way all children respond well to. Donny knew, really knew, how to treat and
teach children, whether it be baseball, football, or any other sport. Don knew
how kids would respond to his style of coaching. He loved the youth of Dunmore
and they loved him back. This shy man had no trouble at all in conversing with
all ages. Children, you see, are the best judge of character. They mightn’t be
able to put names on words like decency and honor but they knew that Donny was a
good man. Today many people mourn him. His family will, of course, miss him the
most of all. I hope though that they will take comfort in the fact that so many
others will miss him too for many different reasons. His family members knew he
was well respected but it is gratifying to see how many others will genuinely
miss Donny. I will miss him. I will turn on the field to find him and he will
not be there. It will take a while to get use to, if ever. It was a privilege to
be his assistant coach, his colleague, his friend. Donny will be coaching on a
new type of field from now on, one where he will certainly have much success.
God speed Donny…..Sincerely, your friend, Charlie.

Congratulations to the Dunmore Oilers today on 3 very well played games. More
importantly, I want to express our condolences on the passing of coach Donny
Moore. Circumstances like these make everyone take a step back and reflect on
what is truly important in life. If we can all look back at what we have
contributed to the lives of others, and in our own hearts, realize that we have
made a difference, it was a worthwhile life. I know that everything that has
been told to me by the Dunmore faithful about Donny indicates that he has truly
made a difference in the lives of many kids, parents, and members of their
organization. The ACC is a better place having had the pleasure of Donny's
efforts. Thank you and you will be missed by all.

Would like to let everyone know that Dunmore lost a great man today, Donnie
Moore passed away in his sleep. Donnie, the B team head coach, has been a member
of Dunmore Midget Football for over 20 yrs. Donnie is a true example of what
dedication and love is all about, Donnie never had children of his own,
correction he had 30 to 40 kids every year who loved and respected him, he will
truly be missed for what is right in childrens athletics, never having a bad
word for any child or any person, the best thing we can say about Donnie is he
was our "good friend", a great man, and he loved those kids, he will be missed
by all who love and admire him. Donnie thanks for the great memories.
